#2250      20111006

Circling around
     the same thought
     pattern repeating
Sensing the misstep
     somewhere
But knowing
     what the end
     should be;
Restructuring reason.

#2248      20111006

Opening up the
     barn
The farmer finds
     his beasts
Even worse for the wear
Than the day before
Optimizing has taken
     its' toll --
They are thinner,
     mangier and
     weaker
But the financials say they are cheaper
     to replace than
     to fix or
     maintain too carefully;
Corporations as stewards.

#2249      20111006

Buying candidates
     who get elected
Lobbying on issues
     that impact the
     bottom line
Making money by
Owning the views
     in the media;
Corporate might inadvertently buys stewardship.

#2247     20110929

Occupying Wall Street
    Occupying together
    everywhere
Pepper spray
    only clarifies
    the picture
The 99% have reached their limit
And there's nothing the 1% can do
about it;
Revolution.

#2210    20110601

Raining chill
Leaf buds slowly unfurling
The edge of warming
For returning to life
    Suppressed and
    easing gradually
Love hesitating
Death lingering;
The coldest spring.

#2077    20090831

Preparing to start
    the poorly installed
    outdoor woodstove
    with the very narrow chimney pipes
Passing too close to the beams
    in the awning above
Moving the chimney
    out from under the awning
    to vent in the open air
Opening the door to see it packed
    wood and paper
    below seemingly
Spontaneous burning
Rapid heating
that spreads to the beams;
Waking up (Recurring Dream #3).

#2011      20090319

Cruising over a
    highway bump
The sporty air skirt
    flounces
On the custom painted
Civic with
    alloy wheels
    racing tires and
    throaty exhaust;
All for naught.

Recalling the weathered
      Worn down
      Rust, iron
      And cement
      Citiscape
By the bay
Or river.
Quiet, tranquil
      post-apocalyptic solitude;
Recurring dream entry #2.

#1951      20080919

Lingering like an invisible
        Cylindrical cloud
The bracing odor
        left by the
Apparently homeless woman
Who I saw shuffling so slowly
Towards the store
In the parking lot
As I went in for coffee
Has now arrived
        in the coffee line
As I am ready to leave;
N.Y. bums lined-up on the sidewalk
Rancid urine, sweat and feces.

Memorial Day Memorium and another poem or two

#1915 20080526
Memorializing
      the heroes of war --
Those spirits past
      who knowingly wagered their lives
For the causes of freedom, justice,
      and independance --
Wondering if todays' heroes have
      been afforded this honor;
Memorializing todays' tragedy of trust.

(> 4,000 military deaths, and ~= 30,000 military casualties)

#1914 20080526
"Hmmm"-ing a first note
As they excitedly stop what they're doing
      (eating, chewing cud)
to start running over
      "Bah"-ing desperately;
Tuning the drone on their
      "Bah"-bagpipe.

#1916 20080526
Squeaking
The moist green
      tops of the grass
Out of the stem
While grazing;
Birds chirping.

6:30pm: watching the I405 incident response team (IRT) efficiently
wheel the neck-braced Ford Fiesta driver's stretcher into the ambulance;
wondering what caused the semi-truck to rear-end him;
imagining what good could budgeting more IRTs do -
he must have kids;
wishing for the rail & subway solution.
